22 New Routes Launched By Allegiant Air – Plus Free Flights for Early Adopters

Allegiant Air, the low-cost carrier, is launching 22 new routes this spring. One of the most notable new routes also includes a new airport for Allegiant. Santa Rosa airport, in Northern California wine-country (Sonoma), is now going to be running non-stop service to Las Vegas and Phoenix (Mesa). Currently, you can only fly to Santa Rosa on Alaska Airlines via Orange County, L.A, San Diego, Portland, and Seattle.

But wait, there is more! The first 22 passengers on each route will have their ticket cost refunded. You have no way of knowing your eligibility until you have already booked, but it would be a nice bonus if you were going to book one of these new routes anyway. Fine print is here.

Remember, you are only allowed to bring a personal item at no charge on Allegiant Airlines. A personal item, such as a large purse or backpack, must fit under your seat and cannot exceed 7 x 15 x 16 inches. Any baggage above that would be charged as a carry-on or checked luggage. The longer you wait to pay, the more it will run you for the same bag. The pay “increase” scale goes like this: Time of booking > Before check-in > At airport counter > At airport gate. You can view the full run-down of their fees, here (and baby, there is a lot of them) You also have to pay $5 if you don’t print your boarding pass on your own. Oh, and water is like $2. Okay I’ll stop, you get the point.

Last thing, Allegiant operates many older aircraft so they have frequent delays due to maintenance issues. I would NOT recommend flying Allegiant to your best friend’s wedding without giving yourself ample time to spare.
