This is a unique offer from Chase and Marriott, a gift card and points, but you won’t find me complaining!
Here is the link to the offer.
I will try to keep the breakdown short.
-50,000 Marriott points plus $200 in Marriott money as a gift card
-You must spend $3,000 within 90 days (pay your rent or any bill using your credit card – plastiq.com)
-$0 annual fee for the first year, $85 after that. Each card anniversary you get a free night coupon
-2x points on airlines or at restaurants
*Be sure to read the terms before you apply, you only qualify if you have not received a Chase Marriott offer within the last 24 months.
Okay, $200 in Marriott money, will that get me much?
First off, you are able to sell your $200 gift card on Card Pool for $176. That might be an easier route to liquidate your gift card for cash money. If you wanted to use the gift card for a stay, you could stay at a mid-level Marriott property for around $200.
Check out the Marriott Marquis for $195 a night on December 13th. San Diego harbor looks nice this winter.
Alrighty, so the $200 is pretty straight forward, how about the points?
Marriott hotel nightly point rates range between 7,500 to 45,000 a night. 7,500 will get you a very basic Courtyard hotel. On the upper end, at 45,000 a night, you could stay at the Marriott South Beach in Miami, Fl. I recommend using awardmapper.com to help find your property options based on “points needed per night”.
Obviously that infinity pool on the shores of south beach look very appealing, but if you want to eek out more free nights there are less expensive options. Here is somewhere you could stay for only 15,000 points per night, Fairfield Inn in Mission Viejo, CA. You could stay three nights here for free plus have $176 in cash for your vacation, not bad! The hotel is only 5 miles from Dana Point (the ocean) or 30 minutes from Disney Land.
However you slice it, you can’t beat points and money!
