Alright, get your mouse and keyboard ready, this is the offer you have been waiting for! No annual fee for the first year and only $1,000 minimum spend.
This is an American Express credit card for 60k Delta miles + a $50 statement credit when you make a Delta purchase. 60k points is enough for a round trip to Paris, London, Amsterdam, you name it! You can also fly to the Caribbean for 35k points, which leaves you with an extra 25k for a round trip in the lower 48, what a deal! This is a hidden offer that is DOUBLE the miles of the public offer, so you have to follow the steps and links below
• The first thing you need to do is to sign up for a Delta SkyMiles account, if you don’t have one already. Follow this link to create a SkyMiles frequent flyer account (it’s free). Make sure to ignore the low credit card offer you see on the sign up page, the good credit card offer is on the next step. Once you have your SkyMiles number, write it down.
• Next, Follow this link to start the “targeted” application. A targeted offer if one that is not “easily” available to the public. Okay once you have clicked on that link, put in your SkyMiles number and last name in and click “LOG IN”. The page should reload. That is it for that step.
• Finally, click this link which should take you to the landing page for the credit card application. It will ask you to choose between the personal or business version of the card. You will likely choose ‘personal’. Once you do that you should be prompted with step 1 of the application, filling out your personal information. Step 2 will consist of your income and employment. Step three will be confirming your application, then just confirm and submit and hopefully you will be approved. You are likely to get approved for this card if you have a credit score better than 690.
If you did get approved, AWESOME! You will be mailed your card in 7-10 days. They even give you the option to have your card virtually sent to you so you can spend $1000 on it before it arrives in the mail.
Okay, fast forward, you have your 60k points in your SkyMiles Account. Where to go, where to go? If you wanted to go to Europe you can do that for as little as 60k points round trip, make sure you are looking at off season dates, not holidays or summer time. Depending on the city you fly to there may be some customs fees. In addition to your points it will cost about $200 in fees to fly into London. However, you can fly into Amsterdam for only $58 in fees total, that is a great deal. You can even use your $50 statement credit to nearly wipe out the $58 fee, so you will essentially be flying FREE to Amsterdam for one credit card sign up. Do you see why I love this stuff?? Remember, airfare and rail is cheap in Europe, you can fly from Amsterdam to London for as little as $37 one way, so why not see both cities? (just start in Amsterdam since the fees are cheaper than London)
Where else can your 60K points take you? Well, you can fly to Sint Maarten, part of the Netherlands, in the southern Caribbean. Depending on the date, you can fly for as little as 35k miles and $80 in customs fees. Customs fees are normal for international travel since you are leaving the country and have to go through CBP on the way back home.
In Sint Maarten you can visit the famous Maho Beach and have jets fly right over your head as you swim in the ocean.
If you used 35k points to get to the Caribbean, that would leave you with 25k left over. That is enough for a rountrip anywhere in the lower 48. (depending on dates of course). You could fly Sacramento to Washington DC for 25k points and $11 in fees. That sounds like a lot of fun for one credit card sign up!
Another perk by having the Delta Gold credit card is that you get free checked bags! Normally $25 each way. You also get priority boarding on any Delta flight, whether you used points or paid for your ticket. Priority boarding is awesome because you can put your baggage right over your seat and get cozy before the rush begins!
